James R. Calvin

Professor of Management

James R. Calvin, PhD is Professor of Management and Organization at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School with expertise in the areas of leadership development, minority development, organizational life, international community economic development and nonprofit organizations. James is currently Interim Director of the Center for Africana Studies at Johns Hopkins. James is co-editor of Innovative Community Responses to Disaster published by Routledge/Taylor&Francis Group (2015). He is the author of a number of book chapters and refereed journal articles. James is the 2019 recipient of the Ted K. Bradshaw Outstanding Research Award from the Community Development Society (CDS). He is on the editorial review board of Academy of Management Learning and Education (AMLE) at the Academy of Management (AOM). He has given lectures and talks at universities around the world. James is an International Board member of PYXERA Global an organization that works globally with business, governments and communities in 100 countries.
